blinker: (baseball)
As a native New Yorker and long-time Yankee fan, I've always said that you'll know Boston has started to assimilate me when I'm willing to contemplate cheering for the Red Sox.

Well, my project to turn Kelly into a baseball fan* requires some small sacrifices, so I fear I've been assimilated. But we saw an awesome game at Fenway tonight. And not only did I cheer for the Red Sox, but I did it without feeling like I was being unfaithful to anyone. Kelly's father called last night to offer us free tickets that he wasn't using. With the forecast calling for thunderstorms we were a little dubious about the whole thing (and not too surprised that he didn't want to drive down). But the weather turned out to be great (just a few raindrops), we had box seats behind the third base line, *and* it was quite an exciting game. I don't think I've ever seen anyone have a 7-run inning (and still only win the game by 1).

We didn't see [livejournal.com profile] rsc or [livejournal.com profile] jwg at this game either (we actually looked this time because we weren't in the bleachers).

* She'd never been to a pro baseball game before I dragged her to see the Red Sox with my co-workers in June. Then we were up in Montreal for a day during our vacation and we went to an Expos game because it's way the hell easy to get tickets. She told her father about that and he thought it was great. She knows most of the rules now too. I'm going to come home one day and find her watching NESN.
