Back from New York
Nov. 27th, 2004 11:15 pm[Mostly wrote this yesterday, but didn't get around to posting it.]
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.
Kelly and I got back from Scarsdale this afternoon. I mostly ignored the Internet while we were away, so let me know if you posted anything I'm supposed to know about. We had a decent trip. Thanksgiving was small this year because a few of the usual suspects were out of town, but it was nice to see everyone even though we just saw them six weeks ago.
On Friday, Kelly and I took the train into the city to walk around and hang out. We walked around Soho and discovered a place that makes much better hot chocolate than Burdick's (it's cheaper, but far more expensive on a per-ounce basis). After telling Kelly she's not allowed to buy any more purses, I had to resist buying a bag made from recycled billboard vinyl. We also wandered by a shop that only sold rice pudding (in a wide variety of flavors), but we decided that wasn't a great lunch choice. Instead, we got lunch at a little Italian place where I accidentally misread a neon sign as "horse cooking" (it was really "home cooking").
My youngest sister, Annie, who just got her driver's license and has only been driving solo for about a week now (which means she's really eager to run errands), picked us up at the train station. I knew Kelly really didn't want to walk home from the station when she said it was a good idea to have Annie pick us up. Fortunately, Annie drives pretty well and Kelly wasn't traumatized by the half-mile drive home. I made up for it by nearly missing a few red lights in White Plains as we were driving to 287 the next day.
