The Globe's Jeff Jacoby outdoes himself on the issue of same-sex marriage:

He's basically blaming Vermont's civil union law for the failure of marriages between straight people and homosexuals who haven't come out yet and arguing that in a more restrictive society such marriages might have a fighting chance.
