Goings-on

It's a good thing that this week is over and then there's only one more week of work before Kelly and I take off on vacation, because I've been a little frayed around the edges lately. I'm stressed out about work and scheduling and pretty much the entire month of September. But I'm sure that vacation will be good because just getting on the road and driving far away always makes me feel better.

In other news, today was the first day of my August commuting experiment. I've been buying a subway pass pretty much every month since I moved here. This month, I've decided not to buy one in the hope that I'll be motivated to ride my bike to work 2-3 times a week. I had a great ride today, except that I did something weird to the chain and was only able to use about half the gears on the bike. Hopefully I can get it fixed on Saturday.

Other things to look forward to this weekend include yet another softball game (a make-up for one that got rained out earlier), making hot basil fried rice using some of the Thai basil that we're growing on the back porch, meeting Australian Joe at treacle_well's on Saturday, a birthday party tonight, a housewarming/graduation party for two local friends, getting together with fj and pinkfish on Sunday, and hopefully a few chances to take some pictures with my new digital camera.
