I took the day off yesterday and had a fantastic time hanging out with Kelly. We went kayaking on the Charles River in the morning. The weather was great and there weren't too many powerboats. We did about a 2-mile loop from the rental place down to the Weeks bridge and back. I have no upper body strength and I don't steer very well, but I managed to stay out of trouble. It was really fun and we're going to go again sometime soon and possibly sign up for one of their intro classes (in the hopes that proper technique will help mitigate my lack of upper body strength). Afterwards, we swung through Brookline and got falafel for lunch. We were totally exhausted, so we spent the afternoon napping and reading and then went to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at the second-run theater.
Today, I did not have the day off, so I went downtown to get some work done on my contract project. Downtown was pretty much closed, including at least two Dunkin Donuts', so I got lunch in Chinatown. I was being really productive until 2pm when I went to use the bathroom and came back to find that the door of the office had locked behind me. This meant that my wallet, keys and phone (with the numbers of everyone else who has keys) were all behind the locked door. After a few attempts to open the door, I went downstairs and found a pay phone around the corner. Thankfully, I had change from lunch in my pocket. Kelly, who is the best, drove down to the leather district to pick me up. When we got home, I called the CEO of the company and he kindly drove over to the office and helped me retrieve my stuff. He hadn't thought it was possible for the door to lock from the inside, but now we know.
