Work is sending me to a local 3-day technical symposium, which is nice. The catch is that the 3 days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday was fun, although it ran kind of late and I had woken up kind of early. Lots of interesting stuff about Java and development process, an introduction to programming in Ruby (which looks neat, but may or may not be practical), and I met some nice people. I'm using this as networking practice because I am terrible at talking to strangers.
I need to wear pink today because I raised my hand to ask a question during one of the talks and the speaker very nearly almost called me "Sir" before he caught himself. It's understandable because only about 3% of the attendees are women and my hair is quite short.
