The office was closed today, so no work for me. Kelly and I did drive downtown around noon to retrieve my laptop, so I'll get some work done this afternoon/evening and not be totally behind tomorrow.
Driving around wasn't too bad, after we spent half an hour digging Car out of the snow. Kelly's car is still submerged in snow on the driveway, because we're not sure there's enough space to get a shovel in between the car and the fence. She's going to borrow my car for a few days instead.
While we were driving around, we tried to stop at Sherman's for tea because the novelty of sitting around someplace that isn't our living room was really appealing. Unfortunately, the rest of the neighborhood had the same idea. I did manage to get coffee at Dunkin Donuts, which was completely out of donuts (I think there were 3 or 4 donut holes left in one of the trays on the bottom shelf). Despite the lack of donuts, the parking lot was full and there was a long line for coffee.
I finally wrapped up the article I was writing in December, which should be published later this week. The danger of writing about emerging specifications is that the W3C working group can decide to eliminate something major while you're waiting for your editor to get back to you on a draft. Fortunately, I found out in time and only needed to make a few changes.
