So I made a bunch of depressing posts about how everything sucked (and last week it mostly did) and then I stopped posting for a week. I'm surprised anyone's still reading.

On a brighter note, I'm having a good morning. I woke up relatively early and went to Sherman Cafe in Union Square for breakfast and free wireless internet. This cafe is smaller and less colorful than Diesel, but they have awesome food (for breakfast and lunch) at reasonable prices and you should come hang out here if you're local. I'm drinking tea and doing some research for an article I'm writing (my first writing gig in 2 years--this time, I need to actually build up some momentum and write more than once a year). They've got Ella Fitzgerald singing "How High the Moon" on the stereo and sunlight is streaming through the windows. Jeff McKeough introduced me to this song a long time ago and I always miss him for a moment when I hear it.

I think I needed a change of venue to get going on this project. My couch was a great place to work while I was writing the Struts tutorial in September, but then it turned into a great place to slack and I haven't been able to get anything done there for the past month. Not that I'm getting anything done while I post to LJ, but I'm off to a good start.

I'm glad that it's the weekend and next week is a short week. I'm not playing basketball today because we had a late game on Thursday night instead. I think Kelly and I might go see The Incredibles this evening if we can get our act together. Tomorrow, I'm hoping to go check out some open studios.

We're heading down to New York for Thanksgiving on Thursday morning. My plan is to spend Friday in New York City. If any of my readers will be in NYC that day, let me know if you want to hang out. The current plan is to find someplace that Kelly's never been and that I'm not bored with. We're going to hope for good weather and try to avoid places where day-after-Thanksgiving sales are happening.
