The unquestionable highlight of my week was heading over to Northeastern with Kelly last night to attend the graduation of one of our most favorite people. Unfortunately, we were both pretty tired by the end so we didn't stick around to meet her family.

My uncle's favorite bakery is featured on the Food Network as part of a show about great train-related food (they're right next to the train station). He made an appearance on the show impersonating a commuter (he doesn't take the train to work) and they spelled his name wrong.

My second week at work went pretty well. I went into overdrive as soon as I got a real assignment. Next week, I need to try and slow down a little. The move to the cube by the front door wasn't so bad, but another desk move looms. At some point, I will hopefully get to sit in the same place for more than a week. I have a laptop, so moving offices is convenient. Alas, the company does not really grok portable laptop locks, so each time I move I have to get a new lock and glue part of it to the underside of my desk. I feel like I am sweeping through the office leaving a trail of locks in my wake.

From the department of "I win!", we drove out to Waltham tonight and had dinner at a BBQ place with an entire wall devoted to a TV screen showing the Red Sox game. Kelly not only asked the waiter for a table with a good view of the TV, she also grabbed a seat facing the screen and then suggested that I should sit next to her so that I could see the game too. We joked around with another couple who were doing the same thing. [For those who are curious about the origins of "I win", Kelly had exactly zero interest in baseball when she met me. Also, I am ever so slightly prone to gloating.] Unfortunately, our bill came during the 8th inning, so we had to catch the end of the game on the radio.

Not much planned this weekend. Hopefully we'll manage to see some friends, but we haven't gotten around to calling anyone. I'm also going to get a Java environment set up on my new computer because I may have a small project on which to use it soon. Maybe I'll find time for a bike ride and the second half of the latest Jasper Fforde book (so far it's pretty funny).
