The power supply on my laptop has been acting up since I used it to read about
pinkfish's hot glue gun experiments. Maybe it wants some glue too, or maybe I should just get a Powerbook already. Nobody's quite sure.
Today's rain was long over by the time my softball game was scheduled to start, but apparently the fields were drenched so it got cancelled. Probably just as well, since my back is very upset about yesterday's attempts at heavy lifting.
I'm not sure I've told you all exactly how much I love living around the corner from the Somerville Public Library. It's just a small branch, so it's closed on weekends and only open late two nights a week. But I've been putting books on reserve and stopping by to pick them up when they come in, and it's great. It's awesome. I made the mistake of trying to read Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver on 7-day loan. Kelly took pity on my frustration and said I should buy myself a copy even though we're out of bookshelf space. So I need to do that. More recently, I just started reading A Spectacle of Corruption by David Liss. It's his third novel. His characters are Jews in 18th-century London and they're involved in all sorts of stock market intrigue. Unfortunately, my new commute is too short for proper subway reading, so I get to work in the morning feeling like I didn't get to read enough and then I have to fight the temptation to sit down at lunch with a novel.
And since you're probably dying for a home improvement update, today's bathroom mirror installation was successful. With any luck, we'll get our new not-so-wide-as-the-old-one futon in about a week and then the place will be almost furnished (except for the new couch, which arrives in July). We had three friends over for dinner and Trivial Pursuit last night. It's very nice to have friends who're willing to come over even though there isn't anywhere to sit down except the dining room.
