I was all set to go to basketball practice and then I saw the snow (which, I must point out, was not coming down when I got home an hour and a half ago). I decided that my ability to drive on I-93 and unfamiliar streets in Roxbury in this kind of weather was not up to the task of getting me there, so I stayed home. Now I feel like a big loser, but at least I'm not a big loser who got into a major car accident, and that's something, right?

In other news, we had our condo inspection today. I'm going to be glad when this whole process is over, but so far it's going reasonably well.

One thing Homebuying for Dummies didn't tell me, that I really wish they had mentioned, is that if you need to send more than one 30-page fax to the mortgage guy or the real estate lawyer, it's cheaper to go buy your own fax machine than to get it done at the copy shop.

Kelly figured this out after sending the second fax from OfficeMax (where they sell fax machines and where she didn't have to deal with any paranoid schizophrenics like the one using the copier next to the copy shop in Harvard Square when I faxed the first round of mortgage docs). Since I have no desire to own a fax machine (and it'll be largely useless at the new place if we don't put in a land line), I think the plan is to do everything else by snail-mail if we can manage it.
