In traffic
Oct. 20th, 2003 07:02 pmWork has sent me to the suburbs this week, for a 5-day Weblogic training course at the Sun Microsystems offices in Burlington. Having to get in my car and drive first thing in the morning is a weird thing. Especially when you haven't remembered to leave time for defrosting your windshield. And unlike the subway, there's no good opportunity to read mystery novels on the highway.
Training is educational but not too hard. I'm the only person there who's a programmer, I think. And the hours are like a mini-vacation. We started at 9:30, finished at 4:30, and had an hour for lunch plus a few 10-minute breaks in between. I was on the highway driving home at 4:40 and I felt like I was playing hooky or something.
Tomorrow, I'm going to drop my car in Davis Square and then head down to UMass for class on the subway because I don't want to deal with I-93 through Boston during rush hour. Does polyamorous coffee afternoon last until 6-ish these days? I may drop by if I have time.
