I woke up ridiculously early, and managed to get out on my bike by 9:30 and had a nice 3-hour ride. It was the first time this year that I actually made time to go out for a ride with no destination planned (as opposed to riding to work). The weather was perfect, too.

I got home and was greeted by Kelly, who popped out of the side door of the house to wave an envelope in my face. The envelope was from a certain state university, whose response to my application I'd been impatiently awaiting for the past week. It looks like I'll be a part-time grad student in September.

Kelly and I spent the evening up in Marblehead, attending the wedding of our friends C and D. It was the first time I'd ever been to a same-sex wedding (not recognized by the state, but recognized by Reform Judaism) and they had a really lovely ceremony with lots of enthusiastic support and participation from their families. We had a good time hanging out with our friends and were really glad to be there.

Kelly's going to spend today writing the paper that she's been putting off for the past three weeks. It appears that she's actually started writing. I think the most helpful thing I can do is to get out of the house for a few hours.
