What little of outside I can see from my desk is not terribly appealing. I'm hanging out in the office and writing some code. The heat works this weekend, which is a major improvement on a few weeks ago when it was about 65 degrees in here. On Friday, I got the first part of the new application to work for real. It was a very cool feeling to have an actual tangible piece of this thing up on the screen, and to have people coming over to my desk to check it out.
It's been a pretty mellow weekend. On Friday, Kelly and I met up with E in Harvard Square and we went to see Real Women Have Curves at the theater there. Despite some obvious plot flaws, it's definitely worth seeing.
Afterwards, we went over to the Garage, where the long-awaited (by me) Real Taco has recently opened. Real Taco is a little taco shop downtown that I used to go to all the time when I lived nearby. They make pretty good burritos. The store is on a little side street across from a major construction project (that's nearly done) and I was afraid they'd go out of business because nobody could find them. In the summer of 2001, I think, the owner had mentioned to me that they were going to open a shop in Harvard Square that fall. It took a bit longer than expected, but I'm really glad they were able to open it because Harvard Square needed a good burrito place. So if you're local you should go check them out. And try the chips, they're really good.
Saturday was mostly lazy. I played some basketball (we lost, but it was a great game) and then Kelly and I had a quiet evening at home. We cooked dinner and watched the first DVD of Queer as Folk (the US version), which was appallingly bad (but we may have to rent the second DVD because it ended with a cliffhanger).
