This has been a really blah week. Spending Monday in New York totally threw me off, although it was a reasonably nice day (or as nice as a day can be when one has to go to the orthodontist for the first time in a decade and gets stuck in traffic near Hartford for an hour on the way home).
Monday was also Kelly's first day of school. So Tuesday was my first day of living with Kelly's school schedule. In particular, the part where her alarm clock goes off at 6am and she tries really hard not to wake me up but I'm a light sleeper so it's a lost cause. I'll adapt within the next week or two, but in the meantime it's no fun. Getting a new alarm clock will help, but I'm having trouble finding a suitable one that fits on the window where I can see it when I wake up.
I'm at work late tonight, even though I don't have any major deadlines tomorrow. Things have been chaotic lately and the distraction level is way too high. When I feel like I'm not getting anything done, I start to wonder if I really like my job. It's very frustrating. So it's nice to have a relatively quiet office and to be able to spend some time just working on code. I fixed a production problem, which is really refreshing because there've been a few wacky ones lately and I frequently find myself saying "I don't know, let's wait and see if it happens again." And if I can get stuff done tomorrow, then there's a 3-day weekend to look forward to.
