Still rainy
Jun. 15th, 2002 03:58 pmDespite the dreary gray weather, I'm having a good Saturday. Kelly had to work some special event at her school this morning, so I was on my own.
I got my car's air filter replaced. This should have been a minor errand, but being a relatively new car owner (I got my car almost a year ago after many years of not driving) I find these things nervewracking. Also, I had to go to two different locations in Union Square (the parts store and the Valvoline place where I get my oil changed). Union Square is one of those weird neighborhoods that are equally inconvenient to 3 or 4 subway stops. So I have only a vague idea of how to get there and I find its traffic patterns really confusing. Also it was raining. And even though I had directions from Kelly, I took a wrong turn and wound up near Davis and had to navigate back the right way again. But it all ended happily and perhaps I will be less stressed the next time my car needs a new part.
After I got home, I curled up with a book and a big orange cat, and was half asleep when Kelly walked in. We went to buy some groceries, and now I've got vegetable stock boiling on the stove (made with herbs from the back porch herb garden, which is becoming a modest success). It's definitely a soup day.
