it's great when you find the right person isn't it? i remember the search my ex had--culminating with a terrible haircut and failed perm two days before my sister's wedding. i called all my female friends to see if they had an idea on a place to go for a repair--we picked one, she saved the day, and my ex went there until we broke up.
and in one of life's little foibles, the first time i answered a personal ad and went on a date from it--it emerged in the course of the evening that the woman with whom i was chatting was her new hairdresser. we didn't have a second date.
i think i've had my hair cut professionally twice in my entire life. i cut my own, including the time in 1996 when i cut it off to just below my chin. i think if i ever were to want to go shorter than that, i'd try to find someone...but not my ex's hairdresser.
(okay, one more story: she's now my ex's ex-hairdresser--the way that my ex found her was that she also cut the hair of the woman who my ex was with after me. they recently broke up and her newer ex got to keep the hairdresser. i love being a lesbian.)
