What are we doing lately?
Mostly working. Occasionally attempting to sleep, with varying degrees of success. Getting very good at waking up at 6am.
Reading about the history of electric utility industry regulation. Also reading a lot about Oracle databases and a little about UML and object-oriented design.
Being unable to fall asleep reading any of these, also flipping through an old Dykes to Watch Out For book as bedtime reading. Noting with a sense of unease that political humor from the Reagan era doesn't seem as dated as one might hope these days.
Digging the sun lamp out of the basement in preparation for upcoming reductions in daylight.
Getting ready for the beginning of basketball season.
Trying not to stress out over the current design project at work, which has a way of inspiring a certain amount of dread about the subsequent implementation process. Remaining confident that it will be fun once it gets rolling. Feeling grateful for being employed at all, and for having the opportunity to write something that people will use.
Stressing out about the prospect of casual socializing on account of aforementioned dullness. In way too much danger of becoming one of those people who bore others to tears by talking about work all the time. Wondering if it might not be better to hide under a rock for a few months.
Occasionally getting around to long-delayed phone calls to friends and family. Alternating between wishing that friends would call and being relieved that they don't because who has energy to talk to anyone? Wondering if certain people are still friends or if we've managed to alienate them completely this time.
Making not very many posts to LJ, on account of lack of anything interesting to say combined with home computer's increasingly frequent tendency to suddenly refuse to type the letter "h" (which is one of those letters that doesn't seem terribly important until you try to manage without it).
