it's no chocolate party, but...

I've got friends coming over soon to bake hamentaschen. Kelly keeps calling them "haagendazen", but we're not making them with ice cream. She was very good about driving me to a second grocery store this morning, after we discovered that Shaws was out of canned poppyseed filling. Stop and Shop didn't let me down, so we're all set to make 4 different kinds (poppyseed, strawberry, lemon curd and chocolate). I've got dough chilling in the fridge - that was an adventure too. We had to throw out the first batch because I put in too much flour and then realized (after wrapping it up and putting it in the fridge) that I'd forgotten to add the salt and baking powder. But the second and third batches were much better.
Kelly's such a great person to cook with, because she doesn't give me a hard time when I make mistakes or send flour flying all over the kitchen (and the cats).

I envy you both the hamentaschen and the kitchen companion. ;-) Cute-poet-chick's idea of cooking is nuking the KFC potatoes and gravy rather than eating them cold from the fridge.

KFC scares me enough when it's freshly microwaved at the store, the thought of reheating it is too much. I used to walk home past a combination KFC and Taco Hell store, which offered combination plates featuring fried chicken and tacos. Fortunately, it was soon supplanted by a cheap Indian take-out place a few blocks closer to my apartment.
