Dec. 11th, 2004 03:00 pmI'm sure that what's happening to the redsox.com server right now is much worse than slashdotting, so I should really be impressed that the site is responding at all. However, when you finally get out of their "virtual waiting room" and are presented with options for buying some tickets, it is super-frustrating to get an error message saying they can't process your request due to high transaction volumes. If the server is getting hammered, asking the user to re-try the request repeatedly doesn't make much sense.
Not to mention, I've had to take several dozen of those "type this number so we know you're not a robot" tests.
On the bright side, we did score decent seats for a Sox/Orioles game at the end of April.
