It's a good thing the World Series didn't go to more games, because if it had then the presidential election would have made it hard for Boston.com to replace the news section on their front page with Red Sox coverage for 4 days straight.

Now I understand that it's been 86 years and people are excited. However, the newspaper (and its online presence) is supposed to provide news. The Red Sox aren't going to be news again until the Yankees sign Pedro.

Next year, we need to buy twice as much candy. We ran out long before the kids stopped coming by, and they've kept ringing the bell even though we turned our lights off. It's a big downer to have to keep telling kids that we're out of candy.

Before we ran out, we did see some excellent costumes. I think this neighborhood has more kids than our old neighborhood in Medford.

Since the weather today was fantastic, I went for a lovely walk downtown with my lovely wife. We had to return some stuff to Hold Everything, so we started at one end of Newbury St. and made our way to the other. We mostly window-shopped, but I talked Kelly into buying hot pink leather gloves at Jasmine Sola (to match this year's scarf, which is also pink).

It was a really nice afternoon. I've been feeling some frustration that my neighborhood is not great for recreational walking (it's not very pretty and you can't go more than 6 blocks in any direction before you hit a highway or a pedestrian-unfriendly intersection), so I need to get better about jumping on the subway and going someplace where I do like to walk around.

I spent a good bit of the afternoon playing with my camera phone, which does much better with close-ups than with anything far away. Here are a few I snapped while sitting outside at Kashmir... )
