The first day of super-secure-for-the-DNC mass transit was not too bad. In the morning, there was no security at Sullivan Square and I didn't see any cops at the Chinatown station either. In the afternoon, transit cops boarded the T at either State or Haymarket and asked to look into everyone's bags. Then they got off the train and we kept going. There were lots of gun-toting soldiers staking out the area around Community College station, but apparently Sullivan is too far out to be a big deal.

In other news, we have TiVo-ed C-SPAN for the first time. Bill Clinton's speech was pretty good. It's hard to see how the convention is going to have an impact on anyone who hasn't already made up their mind though.

Before we sat down to watch C-SPAN, Kelly and I went out for ice cream tonight. Christina's had mascarpone ice cream which was the best cheese-flavored ice cream I've ever tried. Kelly and I have determined that she doesn't like ice cream so much as she likes hot fudge. Unfortunately, it's not socially acceptable to just go out for hot fudge.

While we sat on a park bench in Inman Square, we had a long talk about what I'm doing with my career. It's a long story, but right now I'm struggling with some of the toughest decisions I've had to make in a while. On the bright side, they're not being made for me, so I really can't complain.
