I can't sleep. It sucks. It's my own fault for not getting the air conditioner installed yet, but that's no help. And it's the kind of can't sleep where I may or may not have gotten some sleep since midnight, I'm not even sure.
To make things even better, when I crept into the den to use the computer without turning on any lights (so as not to wake Kelly up), I discovered that a cat had puked on the floor in 3 places. At least I only discovered one with my bare foot. So then I had to turn on the lights and all my stealth was for naught because Kelly did wake up and I had to explain that it was all her cat's fault.
The day hasn't been a total loss. I had a nice walk across town and a brief visit with
pinkfish to take some unwanted books off his hands. I found a bug that was worth fixing at work. I scheduled a bunch of job interviews for the end of this week (enough to compensate for the likely void next week, when it's going to be hard to schedule anything with the Democratic National Convention in town wreaking havoc on traffic).
Speaking of books, I've been reading some good ones lately. I highly recommend Eats, Shoots and Leaves to anyone who is interested in writing. It's quite entertaining, but if you're the sort who cringes at seeing "it's" instead of "its", be warned that this book will just make it worse.
I should try going back to sleep. I should not turn on the TV and watch whatever cartoons we happen to have on the Tivo.
