E and B came over for dinner tonight. Kelly made Thai fish cakes (from the not-really-vegetarian section of the Moosewood cookbook) and pineapple chutney. I made rice noodles with bok choy, peppers, onions and carrots in a curry sauce. Everything turned out really well. I should cook with bok choy more often, but it never occurs to me. Kelly hates the texture of rice noodles, so we may have to try it with soba or something next time.
Confidential to Dean and FJ: we're using the dishwasher to wash dishes, for the second time in a week. Aren't you proud of us?
We spent the afternoon visiting open houses. Kelly was a little stressed out, so I kept her amused by speculating as to whether or not one of the realtors was a space alien (conclusion: probably) and by pointing out street names that I thought would make good addresses. The current local favorite is "Thingvalla". There's also a "Fruit Pl." in Amesbury that I point out whenever we go to visit Kelly's folks. We saw some interesting places in Arlington, Watertown and Belmont and started to figure out what we do and don't want.
Tomorrow's hopefully going to be a day of not thinking about real estate. Three of my favorite people are coming over for dinner. We're going to cook meat for a change. Maybe afterwards we'll use the dishwasher again, who knows?
