[livejournal.com profile] fj: Definitely Christina. Britney's new album was up on Rhapsody the other day and it's really just about as bad as that review said it was.

[livejournal.com profile] bratman: I had Monday off. Furthermore, any resemblances between my picture and the intellectual property of J. K. Rowling are a product of your overactive imagination.

[livejournal.com profile] stealthpup: I don't know. Perhaps you need better drugs?

I met with my advisor. He said that I should be more assertive with regards to getting flex-time at work so that I can take 4:00 classes. Since that's so not happening this spring (and it's just as well, because the last thing I need is for work to feel like they can afford to have me leave at 3:30 twice a week), I'm going to be taking compilers instead of the database class I had wanted to take. So I'll be in class Tuesday/Thursday, but earlier in the evening than this semester and I may even be able to catch the last hour of basketball practice after class if I really want to run myself ragged.

I'll get to cross a major requirement off of my list, which is good, but compilers was one of my least favorite undergrad classes. If I hadn't taken it while I was job-hunting and writing my senior thesis, and if the professor hadn't been beta-testing a new book, and if the department's server hadn't had a major disk failure shortly before our final project was due, it might have been more enjoyable. Hopefully this time will be better.

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] bratman, here are my favorites from Rolling Stone's top 500 albums of all time, with some commentary (numbers in parentheses are their rankings). You can see the generation gap between me and whoever made up this list because there are lots of albums on here that I never listened to all the way through although I've heard at least a song or two from them. I also think they should have excluded greatest hits collections because those aren't real albums.

this may get long )
