My respiratory system seems to have returned from its 3-day weekend. And just in time. This week is going to be crazy.

Speaking of crazy, Maura The Cat is unusually affection-starved today. Normally, she just sort of glares at me, but she just walked up behind me and stood up on her back paws behind my chair so that she could grab my shoulder. She doesn't actually want to be pet, but she's alternating between rubbing her head against my hand and then wandering over to rub it against the stack of humidifier boxes that Kelly brought up from the basement. She also tried to jump into my lap and nearly brought a comp sci textbook down on her head in the process. Cats are weird.

Aside from a bad day at the office today (stupid database problems and no heat in the building), it wasn't a bad weekend. We finally got around to having dinner with two friends we've been doing a poor job of making plans with since July. Our favorite Thai place on Comm. Ave. appears to be closed for the rest of the year, so we wound up going to Taberna del Haro in Brookline for tapas instead. It was good, but very crowded.

I was right about my inability to play basketball very well while sick. The low point of the game was probably the play where I was running downcourt and our point guard threw a long pass towards me and our whole team plus my girlfriend yelled "Beth! Turn around!" but I couldn't really hear them. Next week will be better. I'm playing with a great bunch of women and it's cool to see some folks I know from other sports getting involved in the league.

I'm thinking about using LJ to help me get through some technical reading that I've been putting off. When I have to write about something, it's more likely to stick in my head. If I actually get around to it, I'll put it behind cut tags so as not to bore all you nice people.
