I got another parking ticket on Saturday.* I'm about ready to write a letter to the mayor and ask what I ever did to the city of Medford to deserve this.

In other news, I am not destined to make soup. Last Sunday night, I wanted to make a peanut soup with chicken and vegetables. The recipe requires that one grind about a pound of peanuts. Our hand-held food processor was broken, so I tried it with the immersion blender. I gave up after about 30 seconds because peanuts and peanut shards were ricocheting off the ceiling and occasionally off my eyelids. We went out for dinner instead.

On Friday night, we went on a little shopping expedition and picked up a mini food processor at Bed Bath and Beyond because we had a 20% off coupon. Tonight, I was all set to make soup and we had called Alek to invite her for dinner. I put some water up to boil on the stove. I unwrapped and rinsed off the new food processor. I put in the blade, poured in some peanuts, started to put the lid on and then noticed that it was cracked. At this point, I accepted that my destiny does not include making soup, at least not this particular kind of soup, which is too bad because it's really quite a nice soup. We called Alek again and she's coming over to go out to dinner with us so at least the evening is not a total loss.

* for not having an up-to-date registration sticker on my car. The RMV didn't give me one when I renewed the registration. I'll have to straighten that out with them. I'm ready to move to NYC, Tokyo, or any other city where I can't possibly have a car. And Kelly's car troubles at the moment make mine look like cake, but I'll spare you the details because it's a long story and I'm not sure she wants me to share it with the Internet.
