(no subject)

It's snowing like crazy outside. What a day to have not bothered to bring lunch (between Kelly being exhausted from work crises and me having a basketball game, we didn't bother to cook last night). And I've got three meetings this afternoon, so it's not like I have lots of time to go out. Because I usually bring lunch to work, I'm terminally indecisive on the one or two occasions a month when I have to go out. Usually, I take a 20-minute walk before I pick up some food and go back to work. But that's probably not a great idea today.

Today's exciting leisure activity is catching up on 3 months worth of web site traffic reports. Today's brilliant technical discovery was that remote access to a machine works better when nobody has unplugged the network hub to which the machine is attached. Perhaps I should drape that corner of the office in yellow caution tape.

There must be a good explanation for this...

Why does my Java compiler (jikes) reject "return;" in the middle of a method on the grounds that it makes the rest of the method unreachable, and yet not so much as warn me about " if (true) { return; }" which makes the rest of the method equally unreachable?
