Once again, I'm not so interesting lately.
Work is kicking my ass. I fear becoming one of those people who doesn't talk about anything except how hard they work and how impressive their jobs are. That would suck. On the other hand, what else do I do all day? Surely there must be something.
Basketball is going well. In the past few weeks, we've won some really good games against teams with better records. Kelly came by for last Thursday's game and to give me a ride home (she's so good to me), and started telling one of my teammates about how she brought pom-poms to the finals last year (but I pay for it). He thought that was a great idea and said he could recruit some friends to cheer with her.
On the home front, we're trying to figure out how to properly use the crockpot we got for Christmas. Our first attempt at beef stew was okay but bland. The second time, I doubled the spices and it was still bland. Most of the recipes in the cookbook we got with it use more canned stuff than I'd like, and most of them seem like they'll also be bland. But it is nice to have dinner ready when we get home. I think we're going to try and find a better cookbook.
We were too tired to cook dinner last night, so we finally got around to trying the Brazilian place on Main St. in Medford (near Pastry Mile). It looks like a dive, but the food was pretty good and reasonably priced if you like enormous quantities of meat and starch (which I sometimes do). On Monday night, I cooked a vegetarian curry recipe with tofu and onions and tomatoes over rice mixed with coconut milk and cilantro. I have now served tofu twice in just over a week. Soon, Kelly will start to think of it as real food. I really like cooking vegetarian stuff and it balances out all the beef stew experiments and trips to Brazilian restaurants.
I'm doing okay at having a social life again (which would have been one of my New Year's resolutions except that I don't really do those). We went to a house concert on Saturday night at the home of a long-lost friend. It was neat, although I think I generally like my concerts just slightly larger and more impersonal than that.
