Jun. 10th, 2002 10:00 amPride was mostly pretty good. The one group that really pissed me off was the morons from IAC Boston, who marched with a bunch of Palestinian flags and the slogan "From Stonewall to Palestine". I really wanted to run into the street and punch one of them, but I decided it was probably better not to get arrested.
I recognize that not everyone shares my position on the conflict in the Middle East. And I'm fairly well-educated about the region's history and aware of the legitimate complaints one might make against Israel. But I don't want to see it at gay pride. Not only is it divisive, it's REALLY FUCKING STUPID to celebrate gay pride by marching with the flag of a place where gay people have absolutely zero civil rights. Go celebrate gay pride in Ramallah (or Baghdad or Cairo, for that matter) and see where it gets you.
Cluelessly glorification of the Palestinian cause seems to be really popular in some circles lately. It makes me angry in a way that educated disagreement really wouldn't.
