Silver linings
May. 14th, 2002 01:54 pmIt's a good thing that
bitty called me when she did last night. When the phone rang at 8:30, I had just discovered a nasty infinite loop in the method I spent most of the afternoon writing (which is one of those frustrating programming tasks where a thing that can be done really easily in one's head becomes messy and complicated when you try to make the computer do it).
I figured that I could either go down to Dorchester to liberate the Subaru or stay at work until code ran properly ("get some sleep and deal with it in the morning" may have been a possibility too, but then I would have had weird dreams about debugging, which is never fun). So now it's 2pm and I've been staring at this thing for most of the last 6 hours. It no longer loops infinitely, but it still doesn't do what it ought to do. On the bright side, if I'd stayed to finish it last night, I'd have been here at least until 4am and there isn't really enough room to sleep under my desk.
